Our 2014 Frontenac Gris is a full-bodied semi-sweet white wine with bright notes of pineapple and tangerine, grown in our highest elevation vineyards. We were able to retain some of the natural grape sugars in the wine after fermentation, providing a silkier feel and deeper fruit flavor. A fun and elegant wine to share!
Grape Information: This wine is made from 100% FTF-grown Frontenac Gris grapes, which are resistant to temperatures as low as -38 degrees Fahrenheit. Years ago, the Frontenac variety produced a single, random bud mutation, and was discovered by the diligent researchers at the University of Minnesota. Thus, the Frontenac Gris was born (The “Gris” stands for “Gray,” indicating the grayish-pink skin color of the grapes). This variety grows like wildfire in our vineyards, and can be rather exciting to tame.
Suggested Pairings: Try it with big flavors like coconut curry, Latin-inspired dishes, or maybe some Thai from Wilaiwan’s Kitchen in Montpelier! If you’re looking for a late-night snack, Nutty Steph’s Ginger Lemon Pecan Dark Chocolate is a perfect pairing.
